Postcards Home

This collection is made out of postcards discovered in a charity shop, sent between the 1960s up until the early 2000s and collaged with vintage erotic magazines. There is something deeply intimate about holding a piece of someone’s personal history in your hands, being able to read their hand writing or flick through magazines reflecting and shaping their fantasies.
Humour is key facet of intimacy and queerness, I sought to express humour in the juxtaposition between polite postcards home and erotic figures.

As a working class artist I feel connected to the art in the everyday. Items that are mass produced and designed to serve a purpose are often overlooked in our ideas of what art is. Through collage I seek to strip back the source materials function and amplify the aesthetic merit.
